Paris

Why go to Paris?
Because a Eurostar or Eurotunnel hotel break in Paris can be so many things – whether film set, beautiful city or a vibrant collage of villages, each with its own character, Paris has so much to offer its visitors as a short break destination.

Maybe the secret of Parisian appeal, despite being such a popular place, is that it manages to maintain a kind of ‘at-home’ feeling – there’s no vacuum of character at its core , just a vitality that’s easy to slip into, soak up and take away with you so that you’ll want to return again & again.

When to go?
We’ve all heard about Paris in the springtime, and though undoubtedly a lovely time to come, don’t let the song limit your short break options. Actually coming to Paris for a hotel break at any time of the year brings its own atmosphere – cultural activity seems to burst onto the scene in the autumn, in winter there’s plenty of festivals, feasting and fun to be had.
Come in the summer and lazy hazy (hopefully) days will reflect a slower Paris leading up to a beach scene on the banks of the Seine and its quays – perhaps not an image that immediately springs to mind when considering short hotel breaks to Paris!
How to get there?
The easy answer is of course Eurostar – a short break to Paris on Eurostar is so simple and makes sense – trains take just 2 hours 15 minutes from London, and if you feel like travelling in style for your next Paris short break, then why not take Standard Premier class – spacious carriages with bigger, more comfortable seats and a light meal including drinks will be served to your seat by the waiting staff on hand. If you’re crossing with Eurotunnel then it’s an easy motorway journey from Calais, which should take about 3 hours and if you’re looking for a budget short break to Paris then for the cheapest option take the ferry to Calais.
Getting around?
No short Paris hotel break would be complete without seeing as many of the sights as you can, and Paris is a city at the human scale, so the short distances make sightseeing on foot from your hotel a real pleasure – the sheer density and variety of delightful urban sights and the animated city life are sure to delight the senses.
For ease of use and value for money the Metro is hard to beat – it’s efficient and reaches into all the city’s pockets, and whereas buses are the more picturesque route they can be slowed by the traffic; plus getting your head around the routes is some achievement! We recommend buying a carnet of 10 metro tickets – its better value than buying individual tickets.
Not only a world capital city of shopping and fashion, nightlife is part of a great short break here – just contemplate a romantic cruise on the Seine or take in a stunning Cabaret. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to vibrant clubs and bars, and remember that Paris is truly a gourmet city – rightly renowned for cuisine from its cafѐs, patisseries and exceptional restaurants – all to be had in this beautiful city as the destination of choice for a Eurostar or Eurotunnel short hotel break.

For sheer variety of places to eat, Paris must be hard to beat and no short break here should be without at least some exposure to the cuisine.
