Dax Kamala - deserves respect & Nerve. . .

"The Porsche beater you can afford."

DAX Kamala from DAX range of Kit Cars - DAX make other high perfomance kit cars too.

The Dax Kamala with detachable smoked perspex windows.

The Dax Kamala was originally designed by Peter Walker of DJ Sportscars and represents the pinnacle of Kit Car design. Which Kit? magazine awarded this car a mighty five stars.
Often criticised for it's Frog eyes the car is truely different and really intuitively designed. The brieg was for a car that is fun to drive an handles well instead of just being another supercar replica. There is a plethora of instruments dials on the dashboard. The car feels stable, solid and extremely fast.
Parts are predominantly ford so cost and availability are assured. The chassis can take the full range of Ford engines - ultimately a stage III race tuned 350bhp Cosworth engine mated with a lightly modified Ford MTX75 gearbox. All within a modern and rigid Triangulated space frame chassis which is both bonded and rivited to an aluminium floor pan. The car blasts from rest to 60mph in a paltry 3.9 seconds (Ferrari F50 Territory) and will still return a respectable 20-30 mpg if driven carefully!

Total build Cost: around £15,000 + your time to assemble.

If you want to buy one you'll have to contact : D J Sportscars, 2 Edinburgh Place, Harlow, Essex, CM20 2DJ They are no longer making this kit but I believe that the design has been sold on - so I'll post the new maker information as soon as I can.

Getting into the car takes some practice - A short hop slide and wriggle and you are in - the MTX75 gearbox shift lever is to the right of the driver who sits in the right of the car. There is not much luggage space and with the perspex windows stowed reduces space to almost nil.
