I purchased my Sony Vaio and I must say that I am extremely pleased with it. Every inch of it screams quality the massive 16in screen does tie it to the desk as the lap can only take so much weight but it is a great workstation. The ideal laptop has a 14 inch screen. Sony software is preinstalled and give superb reliability and the DVD playback is quite smooth even at 1280x1024 resolutions.

Criticisms - the fan is a little intrusive although you can alter the performance settings and reduce power consumption. Battery life was a low 1 hour - intenstive gaming and nearly 3 hours for really judicious use while wordprocessing - set to low brightness and lowest performance - perfect for doing a long report on a flight! Closing it up switches off the screen - so you can make the power last longer.
