Deal Kent has a pedestrianised shopping precinct and a fair mix of shops - you can buy pretty much anything you need in the town itself although there are not many clothes shops for men. The seafront is clean and certainly not commercialised - there are opportunities for fishing at the end of deal pier - which is 0.25 miles out into the sea so you can enjoy sea fishing without going into a boat. There is a rowing / sailing club and a number of fitness centers along with a fun pool - serious swimmers are better going to Dover but the fun pool has a Gym, Jacuzzi sauna and fast food restaurant overlooking the pool.
Deal Kent is not in
a very central location so if you want to visit london you are better choosing
a location further around the coast as Deal is not very well serviced for main
roads. Nightlife - there is a nightclub on the seafront and a small cinema with
2 screens. There are a huge number of pubs and bars around deal so you are sure
to find the one that makes you feel the most comfortable.
People
tend to live in Deal for big chunks of their life - if they move away they
generally come back later in their lives - there are also a large number
of holiday
homes in
Deal so
it is popular weekend getaway.
Deal is a thriving seaside town full of historical places to visit and things
to see. Deal's past is filled with smuggling and many major historical events
took place here. Deals pier extends 1/4 mile into
the sea and gives excellent views back across deal seafront. Timeball tower,
clearly visible from Deal pier, is a significant landmark for deal and was
a clever way of letting Deal fishermen know when it was 1 o'clock. Deal Castle
was designed in the shape of a Tudor Rose by Henry VIII to protect Deal against
an invasion which never took place. Deal castle is situated between Walmer
castle, and Sandown Castle ruins. Deal has it's own leisure pool with fitness
classes, gym and many other activities. Deal high street has been modernized
and there is a variety of cafes, B&B's, guest houses, hotels and more
to
service the casual tourist to Deal. There are plenty of places to stay in Deal
and we are happy to recommend a good hotel or B&B (bed and breakfast).
Deal
seafront provides many forms of entertainment - fishing, arcade games, bingo
and tasty ice cream. Deal also has a 2 screen cinema which shows films approx
3
times a day. Deal has a number of parks, playing fields and sports grounds
and boasts both indoor and outdoor tennis court. The Bengal Spice is my favourite
indian restaurant in Deal and they do a wicked Lamb Bhuna!
